Engineering Manager - Data Acquisition

In this role as Engineering Manager, you will be leading a new team in charge of data acquisition for the market leader in app analytics, building intelligence products for over 1000 businesses. You and your team will be responsible for developing and maintaining the data-intensive systems that facilitate and feed the advanced analytics platform.

Working with the Director of Engineering to build your own team of talented engineers, this is also a hands-on role where technical leadership is key. This position would therefore be ideal for someone who is currently a tech lead for a small team who wants more responsibility and the mandate to build their own team.

What to expect:

One of the primary responsibilities will be to help build a high-performing squad of 5 FTE. The position is multi-faceted however and will involve some technical leadership – programming in Python, cloud-based data architecture (on AWS), highly scalable distributed systems – as well as people leadership – hiring and mentoring. You will also have the chance to work with senior management on long-term strategy definition.

Requirements:

  • At least two years of leadership experience in an engineering environment
  • You are an excellent communicator
  • 5+ years using Python, SQL and RDBMS
  • Experience working on AWS (ECS & Kinesis would be especially relevent)
  • Plus if you have worked with Apache Storm or Apache Kafka
