About the role

This is a senior backend engineering role focused on building and modernising a high-traffic SaaS platform that processes millions of assessments globally. You will help evolve legacy components into a modern, scalable, event-driven architecture while maintaining the reliability required by enterprise clients.

Working in small, autonomous teams, you will take ownership of systems end-to-end—from design and implementation through to deployment and optimisation. The scope includes high-throughput APIs, distributed services, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure, with a strong emphasis on performance, maintainability, and technical quality.

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of commercial software engineering experience with strong Python expertise
  • Proven experience building and maintaining production-grade APIs and distributed systems
  • Strong knowledge of relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL experience essential)
  • Hands-on experience with AWS and serverless architectures
  • Solid grounding in TDD/BDD and collaborative engineering practices
  • Comfortable working with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and modern DevOps workflows
  • Strong communication skills and experience with pair programming
