A late-stage, venture-backed fintech operating at scale has recently launched a dedicated AI division to embed production-grade GenAI systems into core financial and operational products. Following a significant Series B raise, the company is investing heavily in agentic AI, retrieval systems, and platform-level capabilities. They are hiring a Staff AI Engineer to lead architecture and execution across these systems.
You will operate as a senior technical leader within a newly formed AI group, owning system architecture and technical direction for production AI services.
The role is backend-first and focused on building agentic systems that combine LLMs with tool use, retrieval, and structured knowledge. You’ll define standards for evaluation, observability, reliability, and deployment, make pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions, and work closely with product partners to translate technical constraints into roadmap decisions. You’ll also mentor engineers and raise the overall technical bar of the organisation.
