Context

Hypha launched in early 2025 with a strong seed round. Peter had a clear vision for both the product and the market, but needed to scale the team rapidly to turn that vision into a real platform. With no public website, brand, or hiring infrastructure, attracting senior engineering and AI talent in a competitive NYC market required a highly targeted, founder-led hiring approach.

Process

We partnered with Peter as an embedded hiring function across all tech roles, building the team from that initial founding nucleus outward.

We proactively headhunted senior engineers, AI and product talent directly from both high growth startups and big tech in NYC, targeting candidates Hypha would not have reached through inbound. Acting as the founders’ external hiring arm, we owned outreach, first conversations, role positioning, and end-to-end process management.

Outcome

We placed Hypha’s first senior engineering hire, who was promoted twice in six months and now leads engineering as Head of Engineering. We then helped build their core team, adding seven Software Engineers, one AI Engineer and their first PMs. By sourcing directly from top NYC startups and managing the process end-to-end, we managed to scale Hypha’s founding team.
