Super apps are the FinTech buzzword of the moment – but what’s the score, and why are these all-encompassing offerings becoming so in demand?
Europe’s biggest neobank, Revolut has just added a new marketplace for travel bookings and attractions. EU and UK-based users can now book anything from food experiences to outdoor activities, attractions, and sightseeing directly in the Revolut App.
Customers can already book accommodation through Stays, split bills for group trips and exchange foreign currency in 30+ currencies. Travel insurance is also included, depending on the Revolut plan.
Super apps are the territory of UX experts, who aim to keep customers engaging with their products, collecting data on their behaviours, and providing a better service than their competitors.
Essentially, it’s an online platform that offers personalised experiences through a series of mini-apps that appeal to the company’s customer demographic.
In a recent statement, Revolut shared that their new app function offers users more than 300k experiences that users can book through the application.
In terms of booking charges, Revolut has stated that they will not be charging a booking fee for any offerings. Their standard users will get a 3% cashback on bookings, while users on their most costly plans will receive an estimated 10% cashback.
In the Revolut app, book your experience by selecting the date and providing relevant details in Revolut Experiences in ‘Hub’.
“We know that new experiences are the best part of holidays. Therefore, we’re excited to now offer our UK and EEA customers access to the world’s largest marketplace for tours, activities, and attractions with the launch of Revolut Experiences,” said Christopher Guttridge, general manager of lifestyle products at Revolut.”
Experiences join Revolut’s suite of travel products, as they continue to deliver ongoing innovations aimed at meeting their customers’ travel needs to supercharge their trips – including holiday home rentals, hotels, travel insurance, and currency exchange.
“As the global financial super app, we continue to revolutionise travel, helping our customers experience the world seamlessly.”
The expansion of Revolut’s suite of travel products comes as it recently launched its new ultimate membership plan, Ultra, which offers ‘Cancellation for Any Reason’ insurance.
