While crypto is known for boom and bust cycles, careers in blockchain are certainly on the up. Increasingly popular with investors, businesses, and people interested in finance, as more and more people get on board, the demand for jobs in cryptocurrency is only headed one way. 

Good news, crypto is not just for the software developers. While they still make up most of the job postings, there’s also room for marketers, salespeople, accounting, operations, finance and HR. Remote-friendly, fast-moving, and with decent salaries, the crypto space is not one to overlook.

Here we have rounded up some of the hottest crypto companies to work for across Amsterdam and Berlin, hiring top talent. 

 

 

1. Bitvavo, Amsterdam 

Based in Amsterdam, the Bitvavo platform was launched in 2018 with the goal to bridge the gap between traditional currencies and digital assets. With the ease of use of a broker platform and the low fees of a digital asset exchange, Bitvavo is on a mission to make crypto accessible to everyone. 

 

2. BOTS, Amsterdam 

If you’ve never heard of cryptocurrencies or if you’re a seasoned investor, BOTS is levelling the trading playing field. The app allows users to take advantage of the financial algorithms and trade automatically. MT/Sprout called the Amsterdam-based fintech-startup “the Google of the stock market”. High praise indeed.

 

3. Coinvert, Amsterdam 

Find the whole crypto game confusing? At this start-up crypto couldn’t be more simple. Coinvert is on a mission to democratise digital assets, allowing its users to send payment requests in euros and instantly convert them into crypto. Founded in 2018, Coinvert is an entirely bootstrapped fintech startup based in Amsterdam. 

 

4. CircularTree, Berlin

CircularTree was founded in Berlin in 2018 with the aim of creating a foundation for circular value chains. The start-up’s collaborative blockchain-powered ecosystem makes it simpler and safer for organisations to tackle their responsibilities along the supply chain. And their sustainability efforts have not gone unnoticed, winning the 2022 Hitachi Innovation Challenge for Carbon Management. 

5. Energy Web Foundation, Berlin

The world’s largest energy blockchain ecosystem, Berlin-based non-profit Energy Web Foundation is on a mission to decarbonize energy grids. Based on Ethereum, their blockchain technology has the potential to speed up the transition towards a digitised, decarbonised, decentralised, democratised, and all-round more resilient energy system. 

 

6. Peaq, Berlin

Every minute machines become smarter and able to perform tasks better, faster and cheaper than humans ever could. Scary, right? Berlin-based Peaq is facing the problem head on, leveraging Web3 to build people-powered applications for vehicles, robots, and devices on a people-powered blockchain network. 

 

7. Binance, Amsterdam

The world’s leading blockchain and cryptocurrency infrastructure provider, Binance was launched in 2017 and within 180 days had grown into the largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world. In 2021, Binance facilitated trades worth over $9.5 trillion, a staggering two-thirds of all trading volume handled by centralised crypto exchanges. 

 

8. Kraken, Berlin

With an office in Berlin, Kraken is one of the world’s largest and most successful bitcoin exchanges and one of the earliest bitcoin exchanges to be listed on Bloomberg Terminal. As of summer 2022, the cryptocurrency exchange and bank is reportedly valued at $11 billion USD. Their mission? To accelerate the adoption of cryptocurrency so that the world can achieve financial freedom and inclusion. 

 

9. Stoic Strategies, Amsterdam 

If it’s hedge funds you are interested in, Amsterdam-based quantitative hedge-fund Stoic Strategies runs a portfolio of fully automated strategies. Their aim is to give their clients exposure to the rapidly growing cryptocurrency market, being creative with their solutions while conservative in approach. 

 

10. Lightcurve, Berlin
