A fast-growing fintech company is building a next-generation pricing and billing platform used by modern, high-growth businesses. The engineering team is developing distributed backend systems that sit at the core of revenue-critical workflows. They are hiring a Backend Engineer to help scale and evolve a high-performance platform in an environment with close collaboration across product, design, and commercial teams.
This is a hands-on role in an early-stage product with real customers and production impact.
You will work as part of a cross-functional engineering team responsible for building and operating distributed backend systems. The platform handles complex pricing logic, billing workflows, and integrations, requiring a strong focus on correctness, scalability, and performance.
You will own features end-to-end, from initial design through production deployment and ongoing support. You’ll ship code early, iterate frequently, review and discuss technical decisions with peers, and continuously improve platform robustness. The role also includes working closely with non-engineering teams to understand customer needs and translate them into technical solutions.
The current stack includes Kotlin, Ktor, PostgreSQL, Kafka, and GCP, but the team values strong engineering fundamentals over specific tools.
