Orange Quarter has partnered up with a promising scale-up in the logistics industry. They bring together e-commerce systems and logistic service providers by streamlining and automating the process of creating shipment labels for orders placed in an e-commerce system. They also provide a number of other services like shipment tracking and return shipment management. They are now looking for Lead engineers to come in and take some pressure off the engineering managers, and at the same time be the most senior individual contributor on the team. The aim for this year is to stabilise and broaden the product, and focus on the quality of the internal processes and ways of working.

What to expect:

In the backend, the central application and the service are written in Python 3, using FastAPI, Django and Django Rest Framework. This is a great opportunity for you to come in and have a big impact on the structure of this company, with the freedom to make important decisions in the technical side of things. Most of your time (70-80%) will be spent on hands-on coding and technical decisions, and the rest of your you will manage and grow your team members. You provide pragmatic guidance to encourage future proof architectural decisions and align them with the other feature teams.

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of Python and frameworks like FastAPI/Django
  • Working experience using Containers and AWS. Knowing about Kubernetes is a big plus!
  • You lead by example and you enjoy mentoring your colleagues on and on making your team successful, while being a hands-on engineer
  • Ideally you have experience leading a cross-functional team
